Good fit for
  • Teams with an engineering department and no senior design voice
  • Products where support volume is really a design problem
  • Founders who want the thing designed properly before paying to build it

Good interface design is mostly deciding what the user should not have to think about.

I start by writing down every question a user asks in a session, then organise the interface so each one is answerable in as few moves as possible. On a recent studio dashboard that came to twenty-three questions, and the whole navigation fell out of the list rather than out of a convention.

Design work is done in Figma and delivered as a system, not a stack of screens: tokens for colour, type and spacing, a documented component library, and the interaction states that usually get discovered halfway through development.

Where usability testing is worth it, I run five-participant sessions on a prototype and give you the recording, the clips and a prioritised list. Five people find most of what is genuinely broken, which is enough to justify the exercise on almost any budget.

Deliverables

Exactly what lands in your hands

Everything below is included as standard. Anything outside it gets quoted separately before we start, never after.

  • 01Stakeholder and user interviews with a written synthesis
  • 02User flows, information architecture and wireframes
  • 03Clickable prototype in Figma
  • 04Full interface design across breakpoints
  • 05Design tokens and a documented component library
  • 06Interaction, empty, loading and error states
  • 07Usability testing with a prioritised findings list
  • 08Developer handover with annotated specs
Process

Five phases, in this order, every time

You will always know which phase we are in and what is needed from you to close it.

  1. 01

    Understand

Interviews, analytics review and an audit of the current experience, if there is one.

  2. 02

    Structure

Flows and architecture agreed on paper before anything gets styled.

  3. 03

    Prototype

A clickable version real people can be put in front of while changes are still cheap.

  4. 04

    System

Tokens, components and states, documented so the build does not need me to interpret it.

  5. 05

    Handover

A working session with your developers and 30 days of support through implementation.

Questions

About this service specifically

General questions about fees, ownership and revisions are answered on the FAQ page.

Can you design without building?

Yes, and it is common. You get a documented system your developers implement, plus my time during the build to answer questions and review the result.

Do you do design systems on their own?

Yes. A tokens-and-components engagement for an existing product typically runs four to six weeks from R45 000.
